The library is the heart of the school and the information hub. As a 21st century teacher librarian, it is my duty to teach my students to be information literate. “The information literate student is one who accesses information efficiently and effectively, critically evaluates the information, and uses it accurately and creatively. There is an emphasis on independent learning and also an element of social responsibility. The information literate individual is someone who contributes positively to the learning community and to society. Underlying this definition is the belief than an information literate populace is the cornerstone of democracy.” --American Association of School Librarians’ Association for Educational Communications and Technology With these Chromebooks, my students will be learning the skills they need for their future jobs that haven't even been created yet! Some of the lessons I plan on teaching with these Chromebooks include: Digital Citizenship, Finding Credible Sources on the Internet, Fake News, Online vs. Print Reference Sources, Creating a Google Site, and Citations! Right now we have zero technology for our students to use in the library and that is just down right tragic! Please don't let my students get left in the dust! Please help me to help them learn how to safely and efficiently navigate the information highway!
