A majority of scholars who attend the school where I teach get up each morning and dress themselves, they dress their siblings and arrive on campus by 7:15 AM for a warm breakfast. This "place" isn't just their school, it is their safe haven, it is where they come to laugh, learn, love and be loved. Resources are limited; classrooms have wobbly chairs, some don't have enough chairs... Every child, no matter what their personal circumstances are, deserves the highest-quality education with the highest-quality learning environment and that is what I have set out to build within my own classroom walls. Cozy carpets will comfortably host scholars who curl up with a good book, flexible seating options will provide scholars the opportunity to choose the work space in which they will be able to do their best work and vibrant bulletin boards will display student work and accomplishments.
