My students are second graders in Florida. L.B. Smith Elementary was rated lowly by the state this past year and we are working to build a "Grade A" school as soon as possible. This will take much hard work but we are excited to achieve great things from here on out. In order to get my students excited about reading and writing, they need to be interested in the activities that they are doing. In order to do this, I will plan interactive lessons that draw in many skills and connect them to reading. An extensive classroom library with many options will also allow for students to find books that match their interests, which will help invest them in their growth as readers.
