Morning meeting and large group time are an important part of Pre-K. My students currently sit around a square rug that is too small for all of them to fit. The kids do squeeze in, but having a larger rug would help them become better learners by giving each of them a comfortable space to utilize while learning. My students deserve to have an area that is developmentally appropriate. Having a rug that allows the students to sit in a circle would help create a wonderful sense of community and belonging. When children are in a circle they have a greater opportunity to work on their social/emotional skills, as well as their cognitive and physical skills as well.
