Do you remember what it was like to be a 2nd grader? Some of us may wince as we look back at such a transitional time. Don't you remember being inquisitive and curious about all there is to be inquisitive and curious about? Were you high-spirited with high energy? Did you have wide-eyed dreams of being a teacher, doctor, lawyer, dancer, or poet? These are my students. They are versions of what you and I may have been like, just innocent children. They are developing a sense of self and independence. More importantly, they are finally learning who they are and learning to embrace that individuality. We are a Title I startup charter elementary school in East Point, comprised of mostly African-American children. The Title I school houses grades K-2 at the moment, but growing a grade each year. We encourage all students to reach their full potential through zest, scholarship, honesty, kindness, and grit.
