We would like to begin a novel study on the book "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio. "Wonder" is about a 5th-grade boy, August, with a severe facial deformity. Little Auggie is beginning his first year of public school, after several years of homeschooling. While he is excited about this new transition, it is definitely a challenge for him and his family. This book is a truly inspiring read! Not only will it help my students build their reading skills and their vocabularies, but it will also teach them compassion and empathy. By reading this novel, I hope to teach my students that they have the power to make a difference.
