I am currently the bilingual coordinator at my school, which means I service bilingual students from grades K to eighth. I teach them English as a Second language and provide transitional bilingual education to those students that speak Spanish. Most of my older students are newcomers to this country and are not only trying to learn the language, but the culture as well. Many of them are refugees and are simply in need of a safe and positive environment. All of my students are kind, curious and very hard-working.
In addition to being in the classroom, I am the soccer coach at my school. We have two boys teams and two girls teams that are comprised of students in fifth through eighth grade. This gives me an opportunity to get to know my students outside of the classroom. They stay active and involved in school which helps keep them out of trouble after school. It is also very fun for them!
