When we switched to remote learning last year we learned a lot about our students needs. In Algebra the kids need visuals for almost all topics. Having one iPad that I could write on for the graphs and showing work would allow students to see mathematics along with a verbal explanation. Live teaching would be so much more successful by seeing all work in real time and being able to ask questions as I show each step in the process. One of the hardest things with remote teaching was replicating an actual classroom. This would allow students to feel they were in a live classroom with me and I could pause and allow questions through each step. Writing on a laptop proved to be unsuccessful to show kids all mathematics that couldn't be typed. Students need to feel connected to both the teacher and other kids and having the ability to show students work while teaching live is critical to being successful.
