To start the school year, our district will be educating children through remote learning. This provides extra challenges, as students do not have access to the plethora of materials I have gathered over the years for students to use at their leisure in the classroom. These materials will provide students a chance to engage with quality educational materials that will support their learning journey at home during a pandemic. The poetry books listed in the project will give each student a chance to read along with the teacher, as they look for exemplary poems to help them with their own poetry writing. Students will use dice to engage in interactive games and activities to strengthen number sense, addition and subtraction skills, and multiplication and division skills. Paint pens will be used for community building activities paired with the beautiful book, Only One You by Linda Kranz. This will lead to other social studies projects, such as treasure mapping and self identity exercises.
