I am a third year teacher. When I graduated, I taught preschool, so A LOT of the books I had are not developmentally appropriate for my second graders. As a recently graduated human being, I have accumulated a lot of student loan debt and cannot physically stock my entire library by myself. Our school gives us money to spend on books, however, most of these books were chosen by someone outside of the classroom setting and are linked to our reading curriculum. They are not necessarily the perfect books for engagement. The kids at our school struggle to enjoy reading, and I want them to leave my classroom LOVING it.
