Research states that flexible seating in the classroom promotes student participation, interaction, and collaboration. Choosing the most suitable seating motivates students and enhances creativity. Studies have found that short bursts of movement in the classroom contribute to better on-task behavior. By giving students control over their searing, they feel empowered to learn. When students sit on stability balls, both sides of their brains are engaged in keeping their bodies centered on the balls. Flexible seating helps develop strategies for all students, with or without special needs, to focus better and be more productive in the classroom. Students become more vested in the task being presented when they are comfortable. Studies show that the classroom design has an effect on teachers habits as well as student participation and collaboration. Physical activity is correlated with higher academic performance, better overall health, and improved behavior.
