My students need choices and the ability to move around the classroom not only easily, but safely. Currently we have desk/chair combos that are not easy to move around to make groups, and some do not even provide a space for students to put their supplies; they are left on the floor for others to step on. By having flexible seating like Wobble chairs and balance balls, students will be able to utilize stations, group work, learning centers, and even partner work. With our current setup, it is not easy to move about the classroom or work in groups without having to sit on the floor or out in the hallway. Plus the current desks do not help those students who have energy to burn; flexible seating will allow them to move about the classroom easier and even have a place to put their supplies!
