When helping my students plan for their future, I allow all opportunities to teach the importance of using technology as a tool. Year by year and piece by piece, the increase in resources that have enabled let me do this has grown substantially. Tools that adults use without thought, such as speech to text, predictive text, or even a calculator, are all skills that have helped provide my students with autism to understand the meaningfulness of technology and increase their interactions with their environment. Guaranteeing these resources are available is my top priority. A changing station would help allow a safe and secure way to keep my students greatest tools ready. When multiple students are using speech to text to write assignments, it gets noisy. Headphones with microphones ease that frustration and make their interactions more purposeful which allow more time for instruction. Outfitting our class with an Apple TV would allow me the ability to provide an interactive whiteboard to display a wide range of digital media including our reading and science curriculum. Lastly, with how motivated my students are with using technology and the long-term outcome of their education, OSMO Coding would allow my students to gain pre requirest skills needed for a future using their knowledge of technology. With the limited time I have with my students, I thrive to make the most meaningful impact on their learning. I have seen the benefit of using technology appropriately to advance my students education and boost their confidence in themselves.
