Creating a cozy, welcoming space where students may read quietly or explore books in a central location will help my students in a variety of ways. A classroom library helps with literacy instruction, aids students in learning about books, provides opportunities for independent reading, and provides a central location for books in the classroom. My children are emergent readers or are working on becoming one. The book set selected for this project is aligned with our sight word list and can be used to help with identification of sight words. This book set will support the flash cards and sight words games already in use in the classroom. The sofas and ottomans allow for flexible seating and a rug for the tile floor will help make the library warm and inviting. A book rack will help keep the books in plain sight. This project is for classroom use.
