These tools will help aide in my instruction to promote early reading skills such as letter identification, rhyming, letter sounds and letter writing. These tools are engaging and student lead activities that will promote student growth. Children need opportunities to explore their environment to learn, and the chosen items will allow for that. The magnet ABC board is to help children gain fine motor skills with writing their letters. The magnet boards help teach direction, or which way to write the letters. The journals will be used to continue this process. Students will use a variety of writing tools, such as pencils, pens, markers and crayons, to draw and begin the writing process on a daily basis. The play dough mats help children to build the letter and process the way it looks all while building fine motor skills to help them write. When teaching rhyming it is important to offer a variety of texts that demonstrate rhyming words. Rhyming is a foundational skill for learning how to read; that is why I chose the Early Literacy Skills Book set. Also, the presentation of the items in a classroom is important. I have chosen the storage shelf to act as a literacy shelf in my classroom. This way items can be presented and children can chose what they would like to engage in.
