After the difficult year and a half that we have experience, my students are stepping foot into the classroom for their first "normal" year of school. It is evident that our classroom are still far from the normal that we once knew, but I hope to create a classroom environment and learning experience that is meaningful to my students. The implementation of flexible seating will serve as a glimmer of hope during these times of challenge and restrictions set forth by the pandemic, and give students the chance to feel comfortable, safe, and seen in our classroom. Due to social distancing protocols, students are expected to sit at their desk the entire school day. Implementing flexible seating options in our classroom will allow students the opportunity to move and wiggle within their seats - allowing them to be more engaged and focused during our school day.
