The students in my classroom are all on the autism spectrum, and they all have their own unique strengths and personalities. They are each growing in their academic skills nicely, and would benefit from center-based learning and independent work stations-which I am not able to provide them currently due to not having access to enough "visual barriers." All but one of the students receive all of their academic, behavioral, and daily living skills instruction in my self-contained classroom and will be with me throughout their elementary careers. The students and I have a relationship that is unmatched, and I have seen so much progress since they have started with me. I hope to be able to provide them with more learning opportunities to increase their independence and to prepare them for moving on to the middle/high school and their own daily lives. These students deserve it!
