This is a Title I school with a large non-English speaking population. The students range from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade and many of them do not have a lot of resources available at home. Most of them have poor fine motor skills, especially the kindergarten students. Since I am in the media specialist, I am trying to get the students excited about reading and excited to come to the media center. A Makerspace is a great way to pull them in, develop new skills, and connect it all to books and reading. My students are eager to learn and love exploring on their own, they just need to be given a chance to do so.
