We need agriculture to survive. How can we get our students eager and excited in making a difference in modern agriculture industry? We must develop agriculture literacy in the next generation by creating problem solvers through STEM. My students will design and engineer 2 geodesic domes out of PVC pipe, couplings, zip ties, and chick wire. One geodesic dome will be used as a greenhouse to grow seedlings for our AITC vegetable garden. The other geodesic dome will be used to house our chickens that will be incubated in the classroom. Students will be in charge of maintenance of chickens and gathering and selling of eggs to local STEM farmers who will participate with our project. Students will put together a rain barrel that will be used for watering of vegetable plants and chicken flock. Students will keep an electronic journal of plants, chickens, health, egg production, costs, and income.
