The learning environment is extremely important for optimum student learning. This year in particular I have more students with sensory processing issues. The lights are often too bright, but the old desk lamps with flexible necks aren't the best as an alternative option. Noise and lighting are constant issues. Trying to work in a classroom is extremely difficult when you have sensory issues. COVID seems to have given some students the ability to work at home with less light and perhaps the ability to go into their closet or other 'quiet' space. My goal is to provide a more adaptive and welcoming learning environment for these students who are struggling with sensory issues.
