Students are intimidated and turned off by the idea of poetry. Magnetic poetry boards (and the magnetic poetry easel) allow students to play around with words, discover new meanings, and create beautiful, rhythmic poetry. I specifically asked for Shakespeare magnet sets to go with my unit to A Midsummer Night's Dream, allowing students to better understand and utilize this language. The Jenga games will be used for a wonderful resource I found online, in which students will answer specific questions to their novels, based on the block they choose. These range in difficulty, but overall, ask students for deeper understanding of texts.
