My students are 3-5 years old and a percentage come from lower income families. Most of the time my classroom is the students first time in a school setting. If my classroom had a smart board there would be an unlimited amount of developmentally appropriate activities that we could facilitate for the children on a daily basis. I would love the opportunity to take my students on a virtual field trip, we could explore Antarctica and the Amazon rain forest in the same day! There are countless games that we could play during our whole group instruction time to teach the students, and a variety of 'center time' activities that the children could work on independently. With this smart board, the families that we serve as a Head Start would benefit as well. We could have slide shows playing during family fun nights. These slide shows could have important information and photos of the students' recent activities.
The students in my classroom would greatly benefit from this important and diverse piece of technology.
The local school district that my students will attend in the future utilize smart boards as well. I believe, integrating the smart board into my Pre-k classroom will benefit the children and families I work with, both now and in the future.
