Every year, I've had the same old paper worksheets out for my students for morning work. This year, I have decided to change things up and have STEM tubs out for my students when they come in. My students come from many different backgrounds and home lives. Implementing STEM tubs as morning work is my effort to get my students excited to be at school in the morning and start their day off with problem solving and working collaboratively. The materials I am requesting will be perfect for my students to work on STEM tasks. The Goobi construction set allows the to build and create using their imaginations. The Tinkering Labs electronic motors kit allows students to get hand-on experience with real motors. The pipeline building, giromag and marble run will give my students experience with designing and building structures. All of these materials will foster my students' fine motor skills as well their innovation and creativity. With my days so full, I often find it difficult to find time to do science so this is one way to get STEM goals met. I have already started my tubs with some random math materials that I have but I am in need of these STEM materials to continue the tubs throughout the year and for years to come. I hope you will help to bring STEM into my 3rd grade students' lives.
