Flexible seating has been growing rapidly throughout the past ten years. I am positive that this is not a phase/trend that teachers are implementing in their classrooms. Students need to feel that they are a part of your classroom. They should be given choices and not just commands. As soon as you build those valuable connections with your students, then meaningful learning will happen! I feel as though allowing students to choose their seating -- whether it be on the rug, in a wobble chair, on a stool or a beanbag -- throughout their independent learning time will positively benefit both the student and myself (educator)! They will feel as though they are in charge of their learning, which we as educators love to witness!
