Kindergarten students need multiple and varied activities to build literacy and numeracy skills. For many, this is their first exposure to many academic skills. The magnetic letter tiles, CVC and sentence building games and activities will give my students lots of opportunities to build reading skills in developmentally appropriate ways. The mirrors will support some new skills I learned in LETRS training to allow my students to look at how their mouth looks when producing letter sounds which will help them learn the sounds accurately. The subitizing ten frame and addition/subtraction games and activities will enhance my students' numeracy skills and give them practice to build a good foundation in math and have fun at the same time. Kindergarten students are all about being hands-on! The multiple building toys will grow their creativity and problem solving skills. The vet kits will enhance our unit on animals through dramatic play. As students engage in activities together through play they learn important social skills as well as academic skills. Some students are experiencing anxiety due to COVID-19. The building toys and stress balls will be nice additions to our calming corner items to help to alleviate some of the stress the students are experiencing. I love my Kinders and want them to feel supported in their learning and growing. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!
