I am moving to a new classroom this year without carpet, and I just cannot afford an area rug. I spend a lot of money to help provide the supplies for these children who yearn for the knowledge to become successful. We do many activities that encourage and inspire the students to gain more knowledge through literature circles, reading groups, read alouds, mini-lessons, and much more. An area rug would be extremely helpful in my class and would allow students to move away from their traditional seats to work collaboratively and learn in a variety of ways. Students tend to work harder and are more motivated when they can work in comfortable learning environment. The rug would also be the basis for our classroom library. I have a few bookshelves that would fit nicely around a rug, which is a perfect place for students to sit and read during silent reading time. Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help me offer this gift to the students!
