This school year I hope to inspire my students to THINK like mathematicians and persevere through difficult problems. My students live in Pomona, CA - a very low income and high need area, but this does not stop them from having big dreams! My students are hard workers and know they have what it takes to be successful, unfortunately we don't have as many resources as we would like to support them in this brave endeavor. I am going into my 7th year teaching mathematics in Pomona and look forward to another year of engaging my students in rigorous mathematics and challenging them to actually learn how to think! My students are NOT passive learners of mathematics, they do NOT sit a get - my classroom is rarely silent and never monotonous. There is constant collaboration, movement, and energy. Can't wait to see what this year will bring!
