My students come from a range of experiences and exposure. We need Integrated Mathematics Literacy to continue building our Mathematical mindset. We have a passion for classroom community and choice, so we would love to add to our classroom with flexible seating options. To help build classroom community, inspire teamwork, and maintain a positive self image, we will be using books to teach empathy and compassion. I want to help students make connections with their lives and actions, while encouraging them to make positive choices. Strengthening reading comprehension skills in students will positively impact algebraic reasoning and number sense. My students will use the books in class to help see and manipulate, discuss, and write about mathematical concepts. We will encourage and develop growth mindset through integrating Literacy, Mathematics, and STEM in the classroom.
