Having an easel in our classroom will make teaching and learning much more successful. We currently have a chart paper holder that we use during instructional time when the students are on the rug. It does not have a back and cannot be used to write on, only to display charts. This also makes it for students to come up and participate by writing and adding their own ideas. With an easel, engagement and participation will increase and thus student achievement will show improvement. The easel will be used during read-alouds as it can hold books. The easel will also be used during math as we can model problems on the white board using magnetic manipulatives. The easel can be used during writing for teacher modeling and for shared writing with the students. The possibilities will be endless with this new addition in our classroom!
