My students are each unique, kind and gifted in their own individual way. It is my joy to help them discover their gifts and enhance their abilities. I have the opportunity to help each student uncover hidden strengths, find confidence in reading and abilities in math they haven't discovered. One of my favorite quotes is by George Evans, "Every student can learn. Just not on the same day or in the same way." This quote embodies the nature of my self-contained special education class. Watching my students overcome educational challenges with their unique abilities is an inspiration. They often need multiple opportunities to discover concepts in order to truly learn. Providing a variety of activities in which the students can learn through exploration produces a concrete foundation on which abstract reading and math concepts can be based. My goal is to help each student find a love for learning everyday!
