My students have no desks or chairs in the classroom to allow for free movement and musical grouping, but then have limited places to sit when they need either a soft place to calm down when upset, or when they need a way to move while remaining engaged in our lessons. Open space is at a premium in elementary music rooms, and it's my job to make sure that my students can move around and still have a soft safe place to go when they need it, and a moveable easy-to-store seat for those who need active seating.
