I have a minimal amount of time to teach my students the necessary skills in Writing and Grammar. For this reason, having supplies handy and within reach is a must! Students are MUCH more excited to learn and write if they are provided colorful materials like: markers for labeling and note-taking, post-its to revise writing, and bins to easily locate their writing journals. Sometimes the most leery writers turn into the most inspired after being handed a notebook, markers, and colorful post-its and giving them a CHOICE to write about something meaningful in their lives. These materials seem to help students to cozy up to the idea that the writing process can be a fun, inspirational tool to get them through tough moments in the classroom and in life.
