Having the instruments in the classroom will allow me to do hands-on musical activities with my children, beyond prerecorded CDs & videos. My music background and knowledge will allow me to do more activities with the children, as well as engage them in creating their own music. I have ordered sound bells and boomwackers for the classroom, which will allow the children the opportunity to experiment with the musical scale and different notes. I hope to actually teach them how to play some simple songs, using color coded music! Music is a universal experience that speaks beyond language, environment and social standing and will provide my students an outlet to express their feelings and emotions. My children have had very little experience with exploring actual musical instruments and group activities beyond listening & singing along with prerecorded music. We currently do not have any music resources or materials beyond CDs & videos.
