These seating arrangements will provide a comfortable space for students to read, write about and discuss contemporary text. This seating will allow students to move out of the concept that as desk is the only spot from which to learn. Flexible seating will facilitate face to face or group learning so that I can leverage the social aspects of adolescents. Bungee chairs will demonstrate to my thoughtful, engaged students that literacy emerges when we work in conjunction with other readers and writers. I am excited to work in tandem with my students using unexpected seating that mimics how we truly read in 2018.
