I work with a wonderful group of fifth grade students in a culturally diverse community in Oakland, California. The majority of students receive free breakfasts and lunches through our school. My students have a natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and they love it when they have the chance to select a book from our class library to read on their own. They are an endearing, eager and playful group, and I am lucky to work with them AND a close-knit group of teachers who share dedication and passion for providing high quality education to every single student in the classroom, no matter what struggles they may be facing.
