Most of the books in my library that I have bought are fit for second graders. I would love to encourage their love of reading and give them choice when it comes to reading in my room. Many of my students are reading below level in second grade, some even on a Pre-Kindergarten level. I believe that all students should be able to find books from my classroom on their level. These students need to be encouraged to read, but right now I don't have any books on their level. In second grade, we ask students to read independently and then work on their comprehension tasks using the books they just read. Many of the below level books don't have enough content for them to use on their comprehension work. The books I selected are books that I know they can use to be successful.
