We gather in a circle as a community to start our day with morning meeting, and throughout the day for whole group lessons and class meetings. We have never had a morning meeting rug in our classroom, and students have asked for one. I found a beautiful positive affirmation rug that would help create a peaceful space in our classroom. My students voted between 5 choices, and this was their favorite. They are excited about the words used in this rug, which was inspired by Native American concepts - Love, Respect, Wisdom, Courage, and Humility. It ties in perfectly with our peaceful Montessori ideology, and brings beauty to our classroom. We are also asking for florescent light shades. These dim the bright florescent lights in our classroom, and enhance the environment tremendously. We purchased 4 light shades a few years back, and students love them. We are asking for 8 more to cover all of the overhead lights in our room. The combination of these materials would change our environment in a very positive way. Thank you!
