My students need to read as often as possible. This will help them in more ways than one being a better reader - it will help them learn about language, build their vocabulary, expand their knowledge of the world outside their neighborhood. My students need as much help as they can get in order to see that they are capable of becoming whatever they want. With books in their hands, they can expand both their vocabulary and knowledge. This can be difficult for my students because so many of them live in poverty and cannot get to a public library. Having more books in my room will give them more opportunities to read during the school year, which can raise their reading levels and expand their vocabularies.
