I want my classroom to have books that students might not find elsewhere - books by diverse authors, from a range of genres, that students will want to read. Books like A Blade So Black, by L.L. McKinney. Frankly in Love, by David Yoon. Not so Pure and Simple, by Lamar Giles. When students just aren't "feeling it," I want them to be able to choose a book from my bookshelves, and hopefully find themselves reflected in it. I want them to enjoy reading. I want them to be inspired to write.
