This project will give my students more exposure to both orthopedic skills, a sensory diet, and academic lessons. The students are learning letters, numbers, etc. They are working on beginner academic levels that need a variety of activities to focus on their goals. I am focusing on sorting through fine motor (using tongs) and letter awareness (letter containers). These activities will be used every week during a variety of academic groups. Each week the class focuses on a letter of the week which they enjoy highly. I want to make this lesson more academic by giving them different items to be hands on with items that start with each letter (ie: "s" for "sun"). There are a variety of items I am requesting for their hands on learning. The scooter board to give them movement while working on their academic lessons. The tong activities help students sort colors, letters, and items that start with a specific letter. The WikkiStix are to help guide my beginner writers. This gives them a physical and visual guideline to help them trace or write letters, words, and numbers. My students are currently working on writing their name or matching letter to their name.
