My project will provide multiple copies of books that have been selected for the Battle of the Books competition in the school year 2020 - 2021. By providing these books for our school media center, students will have guaranteed access to books that are required reading to be competitive at the Battle of the Books. (The Battle of the Books is a competition which has teams of children competing against one another to determine who knows the most about the books on the required reading list.) The wonderful thing about this book selection is that it will be housed in the media center and available to every student in the school. Students interested in trying out for the Battle of the Books team are already asking when these titles will be available in the Media Center. This is why we need to purchase these books and give them a spot on our Battle of the Books bookcase. By purchasing multiple copies of each book students will be able to read the books individually, with a partner, or in a small group, which is a great way to prepare for the competition. Once the competition is finished teachers will also be able to sign these books out for use in their classrooms to use with small groups, or as a class read aloud.
