I will be implementing Ortan Gillingham this year to help my students become confident and fluent readers. Kindergarten students learn best when taught with the Orton Gillingham based reading intervention. Orton Gillingham is an individualized, multi-sensory, structured approach that help students learn to read. It is a positive way to teach print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, and word recognition along with automaticity. The materials that I have chosen will allow my students to touch, feel, trace and learn their letters and sounds in a fun way. I have also included notebooks for organization and assessment purposes, to help me differentiate my lessons and monitor their growth.
