My students are in grades Kindergarten through 6th Grade. Between all three of my schools, I service about 900 students. My students are dealing with academic problems but also social and emotional issues such as: anger, anxiety, divorced parents, bullying, grief, self esteem, self-harming behaviors, etc. They are going through some of the same problems that adults do but sometimes they lack the coping skills to know how to deal with them. Our school is often the safest place in their lives, emotionally and physically. As a school counselor, I try to be the positive influence in their lives. Someone they can come to for comfort, support, and advice. My goal is to provide a safe environment for my students to talk about their feelings, process their emotions, and leave with a smile.
