Chromebooks will add another media for my first graders to practice and learn math fluency and literacy skills. Young children are experts with computers and are highly motivated to use them. Combining literacy and technology makes good sense. If my classroom is equipped with twenty-first century technology, then my students will have opportunities to thrive in today’s world. Technology will enhance students' learning with vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students not only need to read and write, but also comprehend. Online books and educational apps also help teachers to differentiate lessons for each student. Providing headphones, in addition to the Chromebooks, will allow for students to work with little distraction. Audio splitters will make it possible for two students to benefit from the Chromebook at one time and lend itself to peer to peer discourse. It will also support traditional literacies and introduce new ones.
