In education, we are constantly exploring new ways to help our students best learn. Something that has long stayed the same is a traditional classroom environment, and the expectation of young children to work in a chair at a desk. A move towards flexible seating allows options for students to safely get out some wiggles while providing them choice and variety in their learning. I am looking to include new options for work stations and storage for supplies so we can be free of traditional desks. My students love working around the room! By introducing lap desks, pillows for working at low tables, and cubbies for supplies we can have freedom to work wherever best suits the project at hand, or in a place that gives students the space they need at the moment. When my students are comfortable they're more engaged and willing to work hard. I can't wait to share more seating options in our classroom!
