Last year, I went to a professional development (PD) session with other art teachers about Google Classroom and QR Codes. I came back excited to try some of the new techniques with my sixth graders. We used technology with digital devices that the students brought to the art room. Some of my students had to share with other students because they did not have the device needed to complete the activity. I would like to have tablets that would allow students to photograph their finished artwork to include in a digital portfolio, go on a Art History QR Code Scavenger Hunt, record their artist statement and reflections, and create stop motion animation.
By donating to this technology in the art room, you will not only help students connect further to art outside the art room, you will contribute to a digital portfolio that will follow them throughout their K - 12 school journey.
Students will be able to stay on task with technology that is updated instead of waiting to log in with laptops, waiting to see if they can access their laptop camera, and battery loss. As art centers are introduced to students, each tablet can be used to reference demonstration videos and "how to draw" videos so that more of my time can be spent working one on one interacting with students. Your donation to my art room will be an amazing experience for my students. Thank you!
