My students are hard workers. As fifth graders, they are going through a lot of changes and preparations to get ready for middle school, but still need that extra compassion from their teachers. That is what I love about 5th grade. They are getting ready to leave the elementary nest, and it is my job to provide them with memories they will cherish in their last year of elementary school and prepare them for the challenges and new experiences to come next year. They love to read and to be challenged. They love to learn new things. Like most fifth graders they are very social beings, trying to discover who they are and who they are going to be next year in middle school and in years to come. There isn't a day that goes by that they do not make me laugh. They are very thoughtful and every day they make me enjoy my job a little more.
