Socio-cultural competence is one of the goals of our World Immersion Spanish program. Diversity needs to be present in our classroom materials as much as through books as it is in music, art and other classroom items. Our other goals are biliteracy and bilingualism and high academic achievement in both languages. Your donation adds diversity to our classroom by way of multicultural dolls and dolls with different abilities. My kindergarten students are learning Spanish, without previous, formal instruction in Spanish. Providing opportunities for them to play lowers their affective filter, and will support their language and socialization skills. Thank you for considering our project.
