My students are first graders in an inner-city public school. It is a culturally diverse school with a majority of low-income families. Many students are eager learners, but do not have the support at home to facilitate their learning. Many students come from homes where English is not the primary language. They especially need extra support to help them acquire and use the English language correctly.
