My students are kindergarteners, 4 to 5 years old. They live in a low income area of southwest Tennessee. I have a very diverse classroom with many different needs. Sadly some come from families that do not read to them at home. It is heartbreaking to see that some parents do not show an interest in bettering their child's education, which can easily be done just by reading to them. By having a listening center in our classroom, I am hoping to make up for the lack of reading that my kindergarteners are experiencing at home.
